Position Summary

Henderson Building Solutions is seeking a Sr Project Manager to join the mission critical team in Lenexa, Kansas or Washington, D.C. The Sr. Project Manager plays a senior leadership role in bringing the most complex and strategically significant construction projects to life. In addition to independently managing the company’s largest and most complex projects, the Sr. Project Manager leads and develops a team of project managers and project engineers, owns business development efforts, and shapes the standards and best practices that guide how the project management team works.

The role holds full financial responsibility, anticipates and resolves the most difficult challenges, and serves as a senior point of leadership for clients, teams, and the broader organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct overall management of construction projects.
  • Plan and set project objectives, goals, and deadlines.
  • Select appropriate construction methods and strategies.
  • Schedule and coordinate processes so that projects meet design specifications.
  • Report on status and progress of project and budget matters to clients.
  • Facilitate execution of the project installation phase.
  • Produce, acquire, and maintain all required project documentation.
  • Prepare layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.
  • Make recommendations on feasibility of systems and/or equipment and evaluate construction products for application.
  • Plan logistical aspects of project execution to incorporate into project documents.
  • Assist in assembling and distributing equipment and construction bid packages.
  • Ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Verify contractors meet and practice all required OSHA and industry-approved safety standards.
  • Coordinate with facility and contractor to prevent interruption of facility operations.
  • Obtain required licenses/permits, consult with city or county inspectors, and ensure compliance of legal requirements, company regulations, and building and safety codes.
  • Assist in developing accurate budgets for all projects and clients that reflect all construction-related costs.
  • Manage planning, materials, building, and budget of construction projects.
  • Negotiate and provide cost estimates for construction work and associated change orders.
  • Protect client interests and preserve/enhance the company’s reputation and bottom line.
  • Assist with business development activities by promoting Henderson to existing and potential clients.
  • Participate in client, company, and industry events.
  • Grow personal network by building relationships with clients and industry professionals.
Required Qualifications
  • Ten (10) or greater years of relevant experience in construction and the design of building systems.
  • Experience in project management, estimating, field installation, and installation supervision.
  • OSHA certifications.
  • Advanced project management skills.
  • Technical expertise in primary fields of focus (mechanical and/or electrical) and familiarity with related fields.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and recommend and analyze pragmatic solutions for clients.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards for the facilities in which we work.
  • Efficient communication skills.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project).
  • Adaptability to changing work environments, priorities, and organizational needs.
  • Ability to generate ideas for improvement, seize opportunities, and suggest innovations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in all core competencies described in this job description.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of construction or engineering preferred; years of experience will be considered in lieu of education.
  • Experience managing construction projects in data center, mission-critical, or other live operational environments.
  • Experience with data center systems, including critical power, cooling, and controls infrastructure.
