COSMETOLOGY INSTRUCTOR SUBSTITUTE

Campus locations with Cosmetology are:
Afton, Kansas, and Pryor.

Qualifications: Master Cosmetology Instructor License required. High School diploma or GED required, some college preferred. Must have excellent human relations skills with a friendly personality, especially with high school students; knowledge of classroom management; prioritizing, ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment, and discretion in performance of duties. Must be able to assist students with classroom assignments.

Compensation: $30.00 per hour

Reports To: Campus Director

Job Goal: In the absence of the regular classroom teacher, the substitute will help students learn subject matter and/or skills that are required for scheduled lessons and provide meaningful instruction for cosmetology.

Substitute Teacher Performance Responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following:

• Report to the school office at the beginning of the school day to pick up required materials/schedule of classes and at the end of the school day to return materials. Follow sign-out procedures as prescribed by the Campus Director.
• Carry out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plan left by the classroom teacher.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans for the lessons, units, or projects assigned.
• Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting lesson objectives.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Take attendance following school procedures.
• Indicate to students at the beginning of class the basic expectations for behavior in the class following district policies.
• Ensure that the students are never left unattended in the classroom.
• Know emergency evacuation routes for the classrooms assigned.
• Know procedures for referring students who have disciplinary problems.
• Know school procedures and regulations.
• Perform other related duties as directed by the Campus Director.
