Job Title: Business Education Teacher

Reports To: Principal

Qualifications
  • Credentials: State Certificate to teach in specific position.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education or a related field.
Training or Experience Required

Completion of student teaching and may be required to have special expertise in various electives such as band, vocal music, art, orchestra, speech and drama, etc.

Job Summary

Performs skilled/professional tasks under limited supervision to provide students with appropriate teaching techniques and learning environment. Establishes lesson plans, grades, and accomplishes curriculum objectives to enhance each student’s self‑esteem and increase personal growth. Meets with parents and staff to enhance learning outcomes. Utilizes discretion, ingenuity, and independent judgment due to numerous challenges of the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Communication skills (oral, written, or business): basic communication skills to exchange information, give/receive simple instructions and respond to inquiries.
  • Filling out forms, instructions, and writing/printing legibly.
  • Knowledge of grammatical structure and vocabulary for preparing correspondence from rough draft or proofing material.
  • Communicates in clear, grammatically correct English.
  • Contact with others: regular contact by telephone or in‑person with the public to determine actual information needed.
  • Interpret and translate facts and information, explain situations and issues to persons, and advise them of alternative courses of action.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Essential Job Functions (Performance Responsibilities)
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that meet the district’s curriculum goals and the individual needs of each pupil.
  • Translate lesson plans into learning experiences that effectively utilize available instructional time.
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to create a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Evaluate pupil’s academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil progress and interpret the school program.
  • Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff to help pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
  • Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities provided by the district and self‑selected growth activities.
  • Select and requisition books and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records.
  • Supervise pupils in out‑of‑classroom activities during the assigned working day.
  • Administer group standardized tests in accordance with the district testing program.
  • Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
  • Participate in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities.
  • May coach, participate in extracurricular activities, sponsor students in district, state, and regional competitions, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

  • Cares for and effectively assists students with special concerns.
  • Establishes guidelines/syllabus with effective instructional objectives.
  • Encourages effective learning with proper teaching techniques.
  • Ensures students acquire skills and knowledge to apply principles, theories, and other learning.
  • Properly monitors student progress (grading, feedback, etc.) and provides an environment to encourage independent thinking and challenge more motivated students.
  • Contributes to effectiveness/quality of district programs, including extracurricular programs.
  • Keeps accurate records, reports, etc., pursuant to district policy, inclusive of the District Exposure Control Plan for blood borne pathogens.
  • Actively supports and looks for ways to improve the quality of customer service provided by the district.
  • Cooperates with other district personnel to improve the quality of education.
