Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district‑approved curriculum; document teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; address specific educational needs of individual students by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and administer elementary curriculum consistent with district goals and objectives.
  • Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small‑group instruction and student learning.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; translate them into engaging learning experiences to best utilize instructional time.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including students with special needs; provide individual and small‑group instruction as needed.
  • Instruct students in responsible citizenship, applicable laws, and administrative regulations and procedures of the school system.
  • Continuously acquire professional knowledge and stay abreast of developments in education by attending seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or conducting research.
  • Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record‑keeping, grading, and reporting of all student activities, achievements and attendance per district procedures and applicable laws.
  • Encourage parental involvement in student education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
  • Ensure student conduct conforms with school standards and district policies, establishing and maintaining pupil behavior standards needed for a functional learning environment.
  • Coordinate with other elementary staff, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum; participate in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment; maintain inventory records.
  • Supervise students in out‑of‑classroom activities during the school day, including transportation activities.
  • Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
Additional Duties

Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Travel Requirements

Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiating instruction based on student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and formulation of action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self‑evaluation regarding professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

Qualifications Profile
  • Certification/License: Texas State Certification is required;
    Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an education discipline applicable to teaching;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
  • FLSA Status: Exempt.
  • Salary: Teacher Pay Structure.
