Educational Interpreter - Lenexa, KS

Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting near Lenexa, KS. This position ensures meaningful communication access for Deaf or Hard of Hearing (D/HH) students, playing a vital role in their academic journey. You'll translate spoken English to American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa, collaborating with educators and staff in a welcoming school environment.

This role runs from August 3, 2026, to May 21, 2027, covering 37.5 hours each week. Your daily contributions will make a lasting impact on two students at JFK Elementary while fostering inclusion and understanding throughout the community.

Qualifications:

• Active licensure required; please provide upon application
• Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English
• Experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings is highly desirable
• Strong interpersonal skills and respect for confidentiality and ethical standards
• Ability to adapt interpreting styles to meet student and classroom needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate effective communication between D/HH students and their peers, teachers, and staff
• Accurately interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities
