Special Ed Teacher | Lenexa, Kansas

Step into an impactful role supporting students with special needs for the  academic year! This contract opportunity is available to dedicated Special Education Teachers ready to make a difference across a variety of grade levels, from elementary through high school, as well as in specialized alternative school programs. Classrooms for this assignment focus on life skills, autism, or behavioral needs, allowing you to utilize your skills where they matter most.

Current openings span multiple grade levels and settings, including:

• 10 Elementary School positions
• 5 Middle School positions
• 4 High School positions
• 2 Bridges (all grade levels; severe behaviors/alternative program)

Assignments will begin August 2026 and extend through May 21, 2027, providing a full academic year to build relationships and support student success.

Desired

Qualifications:

• Valid and active Kansas special education licensure appropriate for the intended grade level (must be current at the time of submission)
• Experience or strong interest in life skills, autism, or behavioral classroom settings
• Competence in adapting curriculum, implementing IEPs, and working collaboratively with instructional teams
• Strong communication and organizational abilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with IEPs
• Collaborate with educational teams and families to foster student growth
• Create and manage safe, structured environments for diverse learners
• Collect and analyze student data to inform instruction and monitor progress
