Job DescriptionSummary / Objective
Serve as the school's athletic director, providing assistance to the principal in overseeing student management functions related to tardy, attendance, assessments, and scheduling.
Essential Functions- Oversee all areas of the school's athletic programming, including developing the athletic budget.
- Supervise extracurricular activities to ensure district policies are followed.
- Coordinate transportation for athletic events.
- Manage the schedule of athletic contests and coordinate with the state association for officials.
- Provide general supervision to students.
- Administer a program of student discipline and interact with students to encourage positive performance.
- Respond to all internal and external customers in a prompt, efficient, friendly, and patient manner.
- Coordinate the distribution of awards and purchase of athletic equipment.
- Establish rapport and working relationships with parents, students, and non‑school athletic programs.
- Maintain the confidentiality of protected student and staff information even after no longer employed.
- Maintain knowledge of and adhere to all policies, regulations, and rules.
- Perform related duties as assigned in a safe and prudent manner.
Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Supervisory ResponsibilityIn conjunction with school and district administration, the athletic director is responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, and supervising coaches; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Physical Demands- Regular communication.
- Regular stationary work, including prolonged computer use.
- Regular mobility.
- Occasional lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
Full‑time, exempt position; contracted for 151 days between July and June. Extended work hours may be required to meet deadlines.
RequiredEducation and Experience
- Five years of successful teaching or administrative experience, or a combination thereof.
- 3–5 years of MS/HS coaching experience.
Education and Experience
Experience managing and overseeing a department.
Required Certifications / Licenses- Valid state of Arizona issued K‑12 teaching certificate.
- Valid driver’s license.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card with an IVP number through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
