Salary Range: $57,443.30 to $93,722.31 (based on salary scale as agreed upon between GCVS and AFT Massachusetts, AFL-CIO)
The School Adjustment Counselor is a skilled virtual educator with a growth mindset responsible for providing counseling services to K-12 students to address issues interfering with learning. This role focuses on implementing IEP counseling goals, fostering wellness, and supporting students with diverse learning needs in a virtual school environment. The counselor works closely with all appropriate staff to support student and family concerns.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small group counseling services to address learning barriers and/or implement specific IEP goals.
- Develop and lead K-12 social skills groups throughout the year.
- Author relevant sections of IEPs and 504 plans, including setting measurable goals and writing quarterly progress reports.
- Conduct relevant inventories, screenings, and write thorough evaluation reports, including educationally relevant findings and recommendations.
- Provide crisis intervention and serve as an active member of MTSS teams, grade-level teams, and school-wide wellness initiatives.
- Provide ongoing consultation to teachers and staff regarding strategies for teaching students with diverse learning needs.
- Attend IEP Team meetings as needed and participate in all GCVS professional development workshops.
- Maintain precise documentation of all services provided and ensure confidentiality for students, families, and teachers in a virtual environment.

Qualifications- License: DESE MA School Adjustment Counselor.
- Education:
Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling, or its equivalent required. - Experience:
At least 1 year of experience as a School Adjustment Counselor in a public school or equivalent community setting. - Technical Proficiency: A strong background in technology is a must, including the ability to perform counseling via virtual platforms like Zoom and navigate systems such as Power School and Google Suite.
- Physical/Travel:
Ability to operate a computer for lengthy periods and travel within assigned geographic areas for school activities, meetups, or in-person testing.
Applicants residing in the Massachusetts area are strongly preferred, with the ability to travel to locations across the state and attend GCVS events as needed.
