Special Education Teacher

Embark on a rewarding opportunity supporting elementary students as a contract Special Education Teacher near Lenexa, KS. Three openings are available for dynamic educators ready to make a positive impact in a diverse learning environment for the  academic year. Each teacher will work with a small, focused caseload of 8 students across various elementary grades, ensuring personalized and meaningful instruction in the LIFT program.

Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification in Special Education
• Previous experience supporting students with diverse learning needs preferred
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to adapt instruction to provide differentiated support for grades K, 1, 2, 3, and 5
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design and implement individualized educational plans to meet each student's unique goals
• Provide direct instruction in a small-group setting for students in grades K, 1, 2, 3, and 5
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to promote student growth
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress and IEP compliance
• Create engaging lesson plans that accommodate varying learning styles and abilities in the LIFT program
• Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and required training sessions

This contract position starts at the beginning of the school year on August 3, 2026, and continues through the end of the school year on May 25, 2027. Daily hours are 8:15 am to 4:00 pm, providing a consistent routine for both educators and students.
