Position: Structural Designer - Temporary Structures - Kiewit Infrasturcture Engineers

Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) is seeking a Structural Designer for our Digital Delivery team. Looking for the ideal candidate to perform a variety of structural design production tasks related to temporary structures to support construction operations. The Designer should have experience in construction document production and be familiar with current technical tools and software. Our Digital Delivery group works alongside our Temporary Works Group providing value to the success of our construction projects by creating reviewable 3D models and right the first-time construction documents that keep our construction projects safe.

Our Temporary Works Group consists of innovative design engineers whose expertise in designing and building temporary structures adds value to the success of Kiewit s projects. Our group s specialties include:
Bridge erection & demolition, Cofferdam design, Critical crane lifts, Erection sequencing & staged construction analysis, Hoisting and jacking, Deep foundations and dewatering, Excavation support, Pile driver, Falsework design, Temporary bridge & trestle, estimate support, Working surface design & On-site design engineering support.

Location

This position is based out of our Lenexa, KS Offices.

Relocation available for qualified applicants.

Responsibilities
  • Work with our engineering and project teams to develop 3D models for temporary structures supporting construction activities on Kiewit projects
  • Use 3D software platforms to produce design documents for estimating support, development of construction documents, & procurement of material
  • Maintain status of assigned tasks on team schedule
  • Follow and help improve company standards
Qualifications
  • 3+ years’ experience in 3D based construction documents a plus
  • Associate degree in Computer Aided Design, Engineering Technology, or similar program experience
  • Proficiency in Revit modeling, sheet production & family creation
  • Additional proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Micro Station, or Navisworks is a plus
  • General knowledge of engineering principles and materials for structural work
  • Understand the general flow of construction documents
  • Knowledge of structural connections for steel and concrete structures
  • Ability to clearly think in 3D concepts and collaborate with Engineering and Construction teams
  • Capable of recognizing conflicts and discrepancies with strong attention to detail
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
