Overview

Protecting People.” We are seeking a Quality Engineer to partner with our experienced quality control & manufacturing team in this environmentally focused industry. A Quality Engineer at Smith and Loveless is responsible for interpreting test data with engineering knowledge to determine if performance criteria is met and to provide quality engineering services throughout the various phases of manufacturing, manufactured and purchased products and engineering standards.
Responsibilities- Provide complete quality engineering services throughout the various phases of manufacturing, and accept or reject manufactured and purchased products by ensuring adherence with customer specifications and engineering standards.
- Perform testing on pumping station equipment and electrical panels to ensure proper functionality.
- Perform final U.L. inspection on finished products before they ship to end-users.
- Compile, document and maintain records of all inspections and testing, including pictures and all related paperwork to provide future references.
- Investigate and research quality-related problems and other special activities as assigned.
- Consult with Engineering and other internal departments to ensure proper interpretation of plans and specifications.
- Coordinate product certifications including proper documentation that may require calculations.
- Coordinate with Engineering to troubleshoot problems that arise in production to complete jobs timely and efficiently.
- Interpret test curve data and create the pump curves.
- Prepare inspection files and establish inspection points.
- Compile and maintain all drawings and standards.
- Review Engineering Orders from Production Control and recommend changes as required.
- Assist in training existing and new Engineers on quality procedures.
- Assist in training and informing others on manufacturing quality procedures.
- Assist Manufacturing and suppliers in upgrading their performance reports and recommendations.
- Understanding of basic metrology methods and calibration requirements.
- Other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
- Keep work area neat and clean.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related engineering field required. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Preferred.
- Related internship in manufacturing or previous work experience in a manufacturing role is a plus.
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring schematics, and to use standard measuring tools.
- Ability to handle technical requirements and read drawings.
- Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
- Effective interpersonal communication, detail-oriented and accurate.
- Strong mathematical and visual spatial ability along with the ability to establish priorities and complete objectives under a minimum amount of supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Required to sit, stand and walk.
- Use hands to finger, hand or feel objects, tools or controls.
- Frequent stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Required to talk and hear consistently.
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry and/or drag up to twenty-five (25) pounds if necessary.
- Specific vision abilities required by the role include the ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye.
- Ability to ascend and descend two (2) flights of stairs.
- Occasional travel required (1 to 2 times a month using company vehicle).
