Position: Field Project Manager – Low Voltage / Security / AV / Smart Systems

Department: Operations / Project Delivery

Reports To: Director of Operations

Location: Field-based with regional travel

Role Summary

The Field Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of multiple concurrent low-voltage construction projects
, including security, access control, AV, structured cabling, and networked systems. This role balances hands‑on field leadership
, subcontractor management (including 1099s), budgeting, scheduling, and client coordination while supporting company growth and operational standards.

This position is designed to scale, one Field PM should comfortably manage 3–4 large projects or 8–12 smaller projects simultaneously.

Core Responsibilities Safety & Culture
  • Actively support and promote the company’s safety culture with a strong focus on injury‑free job sites.
  • Lead by example through safe work practices and mentorship of field personnel and subcontractors.
Project Delivery & Execution
  • Coordinate technology‑related design and construction efforts to ensure constructability, quality, financial control, and technical accuracy.
  • Provide technical guidance related to design‑assist, system installation, and network integration.
  • Develop technology‑specific scopes of work, responsibility matrices, and execution plans for each project.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and obtain vendor and subcontractor pricing to develop accurate project budgets or hard bids.
  • Manage project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, billing, and collections.
Planning, Scheduling & Reporting
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans and schedules aligned with the master construction schedule.
  • Identify tasks, labor, materials, and timing required to meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Track and report progress against milestones to internal leadership, customers, and project stakeholders.
  • Identify risks early and communicate, track, and resolve issues promptly throughout the project lifecycle.
Process, Standards & Documentation
  • Support the development, implementation, and enforcement of company project management standards and processes.
  • Ensure all project documentation is properly managed, maintained, and archived at project close‑out.
  • Define success metrics and complete post‑project evaluations to drive continuous improvement.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and motivate technicians, subcontractors, and project team members in a proactive and professional manner.
  • Build strong working relationships that extend beyond individual projects.
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and development of project and field staff as the organization grows.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Manage the technology consulting process between the company, clients, architects, engineers, and general contractors.
  • Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities to expand technology scope and value.
  • Participate in project pursuits, pre‑construction planning, and client presentations.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies that support smart building, security, and integrated systems offerings.
  • Facilitate internal and external training to increase awareness of the company’s technology capabilities.
  • Maintain professional knowledge through certifications, workshops, industry publications, and professional associations.
  • Engage with local municipalities, civic organizations, and industry groups to position the company as a technology leader.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to deliver accurate, complete, and timely work.
  • Intermediate to advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead effective meetings and client presentations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop project proposals, budgets, fees, and work plans.
  • Self‑starter with strong follow‑through and accountability.
  • Thorough understanding of project management processes and construction workflows.
  • Ability to manage budgets, protect margins, and generate repeat work through relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate internally and externally.
