Lead​/Senior Plumbing Design Engineer - Sectors

Position Overview

As a Lead/Senior Plumbing Design Engineer at Henderson Engineers, you will contribute expertise across six market sectors – Business, Community, Grocery & Distribution, Health, Retail, and Venue.

• Proactively advise and mentor junior designers and engineers, providing technical guidance.
• Take responsibility for the success of team members under direct supervision.
• Design advanced building systems, prepare design documents, and perform engineering calculations in coordination with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Lead design efforts from concept through completion.
• Generate solutions to complex engineering problems and design challenges, acting in both advisory and direct roles.
• Ensure drawings, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
• Develop tools, resources, and company practices.
• Implement and reinforce design and engineering standards at the team or practice level.
• Oversee project quality through reviews and regular check‑ins; conduct final project reviews as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural engineering preferred and 11 years of relevant experience; 13 years without a degree. A professional engineering (PE) license may count as one year of experience.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering design, the A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards across varied practices.
• Familiarity with earned value, contracts, and construction processes.
• Proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu.

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field preferred and 15 years of experience; degree equivalency may be considered. A PE license may count as one year of experience.
• Expert knowledge of engineering design, A&E industry, codes, guides, and standards across diverse practices.
• Working knowledge of earned value, contracts, and construction processes.
• Proficient in Revit and Bluebeam Revu.

• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Completion of FE exam and/or LEED or WELL accreditation.
• Advanced design proficiency applicable to a range of projects.
