A leading engineering and design firm is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Mission Critical team. This group supports the design and delivery of complex, high-performance facilities for major technology and telecommunications clients, including data centers and other critical infrastructure environments.
This role offers the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, contributing to projects from concept through completion. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and developing innovative solutions for operationally sensitive facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction professionals to develop and deliver mechanical design solutions across all project phases
- Interface directly with clients, owners, and contractors to support project execution
- Design air-side HVAC systems
, including DX systems, chilled water AHUs, ductwork, and computer room air handling units - Design water-side systems
, including chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and piping networks - Perform HVAC load calculations and system sizing
- Develop project phasing plans, including temporary systems to maintain uptime in live environments
- Conduct facility assessments, engineering studies, and troubleshooting activities
- Mentor and support junior engineering staff
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one U.S. state
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in data center or mission critical mechanical design
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and/or BIM
360 preferred - Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Ability to perform site walks in active facilities, including navigating mechanical rooms, rooftops, ladders, and equipment areas
- Willingness and ability to travel to job sites and client locations as needed, including occasional overnight travel
