Role Description

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Environmental Consultant with a background as a Geologist, Engineer or Environmental Scientist to join our team in Lenexa, KS. This full‑time position offers dynamic career growth in environmental consulting. In this role you will assist with environmental investigation, remediation and permitting projects, produce technical reports for project managers, apply federal and state regulatory frameworks for compliance, and may progress toward a project manager role with demonstrated experience.

The position requires a minimum of 25% on‑site time at the Arcadis Lenexa office and approximately 25% field‑based duties, including oversight of project implementation as needed.

Role Accountabilities
  • Produce complex workplans under RCRA/CERCLA or related frameworks for subsurface investigations, evaluate data to support conceptual site models, develop phased investigation strategies, optimise post‑remedy long‑term monitoring programs, and produce related reports.
  • Address client and regulatory comments on deliverables and lead strategy to resolve comments with the project manager.
  • Communicate with clients to review project status, regulatory framework and support client needs.
  • Prepare cost estimates to establish project budgets and evaluate subcontractor proposals.
  • Draft subcontracts and coordinate all aspects of subcontractor tasks, including schedule, compliance, coordination, health and safety.
  • Provide emergency response support (environmental sample planning and collection, client and regulator correspondence, onsite contractor oversight) for derailments/HAZMAT spills, potentially travelling throughout the Midwest.
Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science or related discipline.
  • 7–10 years of relevant experience.
  • 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science or related discipline.
  • Previous spill or derailment response experience.
  • PE or PG licence or working toward obtaining one.

Salary Range

$79,920 – $119,880 per year, subject to experience, education, budget and project location.
