A leading construction firm is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to support its Estimating and Engineering team. This role focuses on delivering accurate cost estimates, supporting project planning, and contributing to successful execution of large-scale design and construction projects across commercial, industrial, life sciences, healthcare, and mission-critical sectors.
This position involves occasional travel to project sites, including secure facilities. A clean background check and valid driver’s license are required.
Responsibilities- Support proposal teams on major projects across multiple business units
- Collaborate with Project Management and Design teams during pre-construction and buyout phases
- Participate in design meetings, charrettes, and reconciliation conferences for large-scale projects
- Prepare detailed estimates, budgets, quantity take-offs, and proposals
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
- Assist with project scheduling for bids and pre-construction planning
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and bid-day activities
- Build relationships with clients, facility managers, and project stakeholders
- Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and project schedules
- Work closely with leadership to finalize estimates and timelines
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, or related field OR
- Journeyman/Master certification in Plumbing or HVAC OR
- 7+ years of mechanical estimating experience
- Experience with mechanical installation projects preferred
- Minimum 3 years of conceptual and design-build estimating experience
- Proficiency with digital takeoff and estimating software
- Strong understanding of project scope, cost structures, and pricing
- Experience with Microsoft Office and scheduling tools
- Knowledge of construction scheduling and LEED requirements is a plus
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically
- Prolonged periods of computer work (primarily sedentary)
- Ability to travel and navigate active construction sites
- Capability to perform light physical tasks (up to 10 lbs)
- Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including noise and temperature changes
