About the Role
Leidos Power Delivery Solutions (PDS) division is hiring a Relay Settings Engineer in Framingham, MA. The engineer will collaborate with protection engineers, perform quality reviews on relay setting packages, create logic diagrams for IEC‑61850 substations, and prepare relay settings for systems ranging from 4.16 kV to 500 kV.
Hybrid or RemoteFully remote is available for candidates with relay settings experience; hybrid is two to four days a week in the Framingham office.
Responsibilities- Work with protection engineers and perform quality reviews on relay setting packages.
- Create logic diagrams for IEC‑61850 substations.
- Work directly with clients and staff in remote office locations.
- Support a full range of project planning activities through design and construction support.
- Prepare relay settings from 4.16 kV through 500 kV, including relay set points, logic diagrams, configuration files, and documentation.
- Solve challenging substation engineering problems.
- Associate Level: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) and internship experience.
- Intermediate Level: BSEE with a minimum of three years of related experience.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and in‑office/testing lab as needed.
- Experience creating relay settings and logic diagrams.
- Knowledge of Aspen One Liner and/or Siemens CAPE for coordination studies and fault analysis.
- Preparation of protective relay coordination studies.
- Ability to develop relay settings for microprocessor relays, including SEL, Alstom, GE, ABB, and others for transmission line relays (Line Differential, Step Distance, Pilot Schemes) and substation relays (Capacitors, Transformers, buses).
- Familiarity with Schweitzer AcSELerator Quick Set, GE Ener Vista, and Schneider Electric MiCOM software is a plus.
- Strong engineering and interpersonal skills with high attention to detail.
- Experience implementing control and protection schemes, including interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and preparing relay logic.
- Experience preparing technical reports.
- Understanding of power system protection.
- Ability to travel overnight on an occasional basis.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced team environment.
- EIT/PE license.
- Professional Engineer License (PE) program.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) program.
