Duties & ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking an Engineering Technician for our Lenexa office in the Greater Kansas City Area. You will be responsible for supporting the development of RF and digital systems for next‑generation avionics test equipment and radio test equipment.
Essential Functions- Execute plans made by an engineer or more experienced technician, working under close supervision and following detailed instructions.
- Communicate status of work clearly, providing visibility to the supervising engineer or technician.
- Work as part of a team to assist in the set‑up, run, and completion of test plans and reports for a large, integrated system.
- Read and follow schematics and layout drawings to identify solder and assembly problems and correct problems independently or with assistance.
- Understand system interconnects and wiring practices, diagnose and correct connection and wiring problems, and help create system wiring diagrams.
- Prepare and execute electrical rework and software updates on lab prototypes.
- Track lab equipment and coordinate with the Calibration lab.
- Author test set‑up documents with supervision.
- 2‑year Electronics/Electrical Technology degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Capable of applying test processes and methods to verify design and product performance.
- Demonstrated strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and a sense of urgency.
- Thoroughly documents work in an organized manner.
- Works professionally with a positive respectful manner with all team members.
- Collaborates in a team environment to achieve goals.
- Learns new skills and concepts and applies them in new situations.
- Proactively helps others and shares information and ideas freely.
- Performs board‑level and system‑level troubleshooting with supervision.
- Executes product test plans and provides detailed test reports.
- Has familiarity with Microsoft WORD, EXCEL, and VISIO/AutoCAD.
- Can lift up to 50 lbs independently, and team lift up to 100 lbs using safe techniques; can push/pull test equipment on wheeled racks of up to 400 lbs, stand for extended periods, climb and use ladders to connect cables.
- Is a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR.
- Skilled in operation of RF test equipment:
Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator, Measuring Receiver. - Working knowledge of common RF components and measurements.
- Knowledge of avionics and navigation systems.
- Ability to read and understand RF system diagrams.
- Skilled in soldering and surface‑mount component assembly and rework.
