Position Overview
We are currently looking for a motivated Substation Engineer to join our growing Substation and Transmission Line Design team. As part of the team of highly specialist design professionals, you will support a variety of substation, transmission, and distribution projects ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV. We are supporting both engineering design and EPC projects for clients throughout the country.
LocationThis position is based out of Lenexa, KS.
Responsibilities- Work with the project team to create all design documents and drawings, including one‑ and three‑line diagrams, protection and control schematics, communications diagrams, wiring diagrams, substation layout plans, section and detail drawings and application of mark‑ups for project‑built drawings.
- Develop specifications for the procurement, installation, and testing of substation equipment.
- Apply engineering application software to complete engineering tasks such as ground‑grid design, equipment sizing, relay coordination, and electrical studies.
- Communicate and coordinate project activities with the project lead, customer representatives, and other stakeholders.
- Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.
- At least 3 years of experience performing engineering‑related duties.
- Knowledge of engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluent in English.
- Work productively and meet deadlines timely.
- Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
- Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
- Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
- May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
