Job DetailsThe organization is a leading player in the construction industry, seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Controller to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The role involves financial management and analysis with a focus on HVAC, plumbing, and MEP. The successful candidate will support the financial health and success of the company by preparing financial statements, managing budgets and forecasts, overseeing job costing, and ensuring accurate invoicing and billing.

- Prepare, analyze and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Oversee the job costing process, ensuring accurate and timely cost information
- Prepare and manage the company’s budget and forecasts, identifying and analyzing variances
- Conduct variance analysis to understand causes of differences between budgeted and actual results
- Manage the billing process to ensure timely and accurate invoicing
- Monitor and manage cash flow, making recommendations for improving financial performance
Prepare aging reports to monitor the status of accounts receivable and payable - Oversee inventory accounting, ensuring accurate tracking and valuation of materials
- Use Sage Intacct to manage financial data and generate reports
- Monitor labor trends in the HVAC/MEP industry and make recommendations for cost savings
- Prepare for and assist with the year-end close process, including preparation of year-end financial statements
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; advanced degree or certification (CPA, CMA, etc.) preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, with specific experience in the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices particularly as they apply to the construction industry
- Experience with financial statement preparation, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, job costing, and billing
- Knowledge of the HVAC and plumbing industry, including labor trends and job costing
- Proficiency in Sage Intacct or similar accounting software
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to a non-financial audience
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Detail-oriented, with a focus on accuracy and quality in work
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
