Basic Purpose

The Office of Juvenile Affairs (OJA) is in search of a Behavioral Health Professional to discover needs and resources for juveniles in an inpatient setting. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Oklahoma’s youth while they progress toward their treatment goals. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment while building strong relationships with all levels of staff and collaborate with peers while maintaining a high degree of discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality.

This Behavioral Health Professional position provides clinical services to youth receiving secure care treatment at the Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center (COJC) in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. Services include behavioral health assessment, psychotherapy, and interdisciplinary collaboration to support the physical, emotional, and behavioral health needs of youth in care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manages an assigned clinical caseload of youth, serving as the primary individual and family therapist, and leading the development, implementation, and ongoing review of individualized treatment plans.
  • Provides individual, group, and family therapy services using evidence-based and trauma-informed practices. Common modalities utilized at COJC include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF‑CBT), and Problematic Sexual Behavior–Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Adolescents (PSB‑CBT‑A), as well as other clinically appropriate interventions.
  • Provides crisis intervention services to youth in accordance with COJC policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Develops, facilitates, and evaluates treatment plans in collaboration with youth, caregivers, and members of the interdisciplinary treatment team to ensure individualized, goal-oriented care.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, clinical staffing, supervision, and consultation to support high-quality clinical care and address the therapeutic needs of youth and their families.
  • Participates in on‑call behavioral health provider rotations to ensure continuity of care and timely clinical response.
  • Maintains accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation in compliance with agency standards, licensing requirements, and best practices.
  • Adheres to all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, including consumer rights, confidentiality standards (e.g., HIPAA), professional ethics, and accreditation requirements relevant to the position.
  • Monitors youth progress toward treatment goals and adjusts interventions based on clinical need and measurable outcomes.
  • Maintains professional licensure, certifications, and continuing education requirements in accordance with state and professional standards.
  • Contributes to a trauma-informed, hope-centred, and culturally responsive treatment environment consistent with the facility’s mission and values.

Minimum Qualifications
