Title
Speech-Language Pathologist, PRN, Bronson At Home

Responsibilities- Evaluate, plan, and provide treatment to patients to facilitate development and rehabilitation of language, cognition, articulation, voice, fluency, dysphagia treatments and video fluoroscopy evaluations in an acute care setting.
- Facilitate payer enrollment, maintain updated NPI number, provide SSN as required.
- Participate in interdisciplinary discussion/rounds, interpret and implement referrals, establish functional baseline through standardized assessment and testing.
- Establish education and treatment planning, evaluate and treat speech, language, cognitive, communication and swallowing disorders.
- Screen for hearing issues during evaluation.
- Provide in‑services and deliver program development and participate in department process improvement.
- Serve as a resource person in areas of expertise and cross‑train for coverage at other departments within Rehabilitation Services as needed.
- Provide patient and family education, set patient care goals, determine duration of therapy through plan of care, perform video swallow studies where applicable.
- Document evaluations, treatment plans, treatments performed, and progress; adapt treatment plan to maximize therapy potential.
- Document in electronic health record per compliance timelines.
- Communicate limitations to leadership that prevent timely documentation.
- Participate in process improvement, provide in‑services for community, serve on committees and task forces.
- Supervise students and volunteers; demonstrate time management skills.
- Master of Science or Arts Degree in Communication Disorders from an accredited Speech‑Language Pathology program with ESB certification.
- License in Speech‑Language Pathology in good standing for the State of Michigan.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or be in Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) of the American Speech‑Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). CFY candidates have 2 years from hire date to complete the CCC.
- Must have updated NPI number and complete payer enrollment procedures.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 3 months after hire.
- Keyboarding skills to operate a PC/mobile device.
- Background check and fingerprinting required for some work locations.
- Availability for weekend/holiday rotation; may involve travel to acute care settings.
- Must work as a team member, communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and care delivery team.
- Social sensitivity and communication proficiency in English.
- Ability to work with mental/visual fatigue typical of roles with frequent deadlines, operate personal computer up to 40% of time, stand or walk, lift light‑weight objects (≤20 lbs) and occasionally perform heavier tasks.
- For home health setting: current Michigan driver’s license, daily availability for business use of personal vehicle, proof of auto insurance, pass MVR check before start date.
