The Pharmacy Technician I
- Infusion Services
- Cancer Care Westwood is an entry level position. The Pharmacy Technician I will assist in accurate medication filling and record keeping to ensure timely delivery of medications. All work will completed under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Prepares medications for dispensing:
After passing an initial competency, independently prepares basic sterile compounds with accuracy. - Distributes medications and stock items:
Accurately pulls medications for stocking in ADS machines. Accurately stocks medications in ADS machines. Uses CSM accurately if required. Maintains distribution records as required. - Maintains Pharmacy Inventory:
Restocks pharmacy inventory in appropriate quantities from designated back up areas. Ensures rotation of stock and inventory. Pulls outdates. Receives/unpacks drug orders from wholesaler, maintaining appropriate inventory records. - Operates pharmacy computer systems:
Accurately utilizes basic computer programs to accomplish daily tasks. - Compliance and recordkeeping:
Follows departmental and hospital policies. Completes required documentation associated with daily work, meeting regulatory standards. - Patient Care:
Provides courteous, professional service when assisting patients, caregivers, and staff. Approaches daily work with a patient first mindset. - Medication Safety:
Practices medication safety basics such as barcode scanning and double-checking labels; promptly reports discrepancies to pharmacists or leaders. Reports safety events in Health System reporting tool. - Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

- High School Graduate or GED.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Kansas locations: CPhT required by first board renewal
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Missouri locations: none
- Pharmacy Technician Registration
- State Board of Pharmacy Kansas and/or Missouri - per work state upon Hire - Technician must maintain certification on an ongoing basis and complete all continuing education requirements.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR equivalent National Pharmacy Technician Certification
