Job Description:

Provide Compassionate Behavioral Health Care

As a Behavioral Health Therapist, you'll provide therapeutic services that support patients experiencing mental health and behavioral health challenges. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll complete comprehensive behavioral health assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, and coordinate discharge planning to help patients achieve the best possible outcomes.

Schedule:

Part-Time Nights

Shift: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday | 4:30 p.m. – 2:30 a.m.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive behavioral health assessments, including risk assessments, to evaluate patient needs and determine appropriate levels of care.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and establish measurable therapy goals based on patient needs and clinical assessments.
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy using evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
  • Evaluate patient progress throughout treatment and modify treatment plans based on ongoing assessments and clinical outcomes.
  • Coordinate discharge planning with patients, families, physicians, and the multidisciplinary treatment team to promote a safe transition of care and ensure appropriate outpatient follow-up appointments are scheduled.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, case managers, and community providers to coordinate comprehensive, patient-centered care.
  • Provide referrals to internal programs and community resources that support ongoing behavioral health treatment and recovery.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings by providing clinical assessments, recommendations, and treatment updates.
  • Recognize and appropriately respond to suspected abuse while maintaining sensitivity to age-specific patient needs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the involuntary commitment process and behavioral health regulations.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation within the electronic medical record in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Protect patient privacy by following HIPAA guidelines and maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve patient care and operational processes.
  • Deliver compassionate, respectful service while supporting Advent Health's commitment to whole-person care.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to complete comprehensive behavioral health assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and coordinate appropriate referrals.
  • Ability to analyze clinical information and apply sound judgment in patient assessment, treatment planning, and crisis intervention.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health counseling principles, therapeutic techniques, and clinical best practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as an effective member of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications and electronic medical records.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak conversational English.
  • Commitment to identifying and participating in process improvement initiatives that enhance patient care and team performance.

Education:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field required.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of relevant behavioral health experience required.
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
