* ** Job Description Summary*
* The
** nurse technician
** is responsible for assisting the nursing staff in delivering patient care by performing specific tasks under the direction of a licensed nurse. The nurse technician serves as a proactive and collaborative member of the healthcare team, contributing to the delivery of safe, competent, therapeutic, and cost-effective care. This position supports the healthcare team by adhering to institutional policies and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
This role actively participates in providing outstanding customer service and maintains respectful relationships with patients, families, and team members. Promotes a positive patient experience by delivering compassionate, whole-person care.
** Job Details*
* + Follows CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs hand hygiene according to policy, and enforces safety regulations. Exemplifies Advent Health's core values of Keep Me Safe, Make It Easy, Love Me, and Own It through behavior.
+ Other duties as assigned. Assists in the delivery of patient care by performing tasks under the direction of a registered nurse.
+ Documents and reports all procedures accurately according to department policy.
+ Participates in obtaining nursing history and evaluates age-appropriate behavior, motor skills, and physiological norms, reporting abnormalities to the registered nurse.
+ Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture, and functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.
+ Participates in practice changes from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives.
+ Evaluates patients' developmental level, identifies increased physical/emotional dependency needs, and assesses the availability of support systems.
+ Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills.
** Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*
* + Must demonstrate ability and understanding of the age-specific care requirements of geriatric, adult, adolescent, and pediatric patient populations, including appropriate selection of patient equipment, communication, and safety needs.
+ Requires close attention and mental effort in executing multiple assigned duties, such as recording blood pressures, input & output (I & O), obtaining and documenting blood glucose monitor results, and distributing and collecting dietary trays.
+ Ability to float between assignments and adapt to varying healthcare settings.
+ Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance with all safety and infection control policies to prevent injury to patients, employees, or self.
+ Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to document information accurately.
+ Demonstrated ability to remain calm and focused in stressful and/or emotionally charged situations.
+ Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to be highly detail-oriented.
+ Demonstrated customer service skills with a patient-centric approach.
+ Basic hands-on computer knowledge and working knowledge of using computers for data entry.
+ Ability to move or lift patients and equipment, and willingness to work a flexible workweek including weekends, nights, and overtime as required.
+ Commitment to purposeful hourly rounding and efficient, effective interaction with a wide variety of individuals.
