Adult Peer Support Specialist

Job Description

This position is responsible for direct service to consumers with mental health issues to include crisis care, goal directed behavioral interventions, and direct support of consumers.

Required Qualifications:

• Able to pass background checks, including drug testing
• Must be 21 years old or older
• Personal experience with mental illness mandatory

Primary Job Duties

• Work one on one proactively with consumers on Certified Peer Support treatment plan goals outlined by client’s treatment team
• Provide shared life experience to inspire hope
• Provide one on one support to consumers in activities of daily living or in maintaining daily routines critical to progression of recovery
• Support consumers in community activities
• Monitor and document progress toward meeting goals
• Provide peer support during consumer crisis and/or upon hospital discharge
• Facilitate/Co-Facilitate Certified Peer Support groups and Psychosocial Rehabilitation groups

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Required)
