Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Postgre

SQL Database Administrator who is self-motivated. This role will be responsible for developing best practices and repeatable procedures for deploying databases, day-to-day operations including break/fix, capacity management, backup and recovery, replication setup/management and ongoing change reviews. The candidate will build and maintain large-scale Postgre

SQL databases in public and private cloud installations and will work with other teams to prepare documentation and specifications.

• Provision Postgre
  
  SQL instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations
• Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases
• Implement and maintain replication strategies
• Analyze performance and implement improvements
• Prepare documentation and specifications
• Manage database software (patch and version management)
• Handle backup, recovery, migration, and related procedures
• Profile server resource usage and optimize as necessary
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
• Write scripts to generate adhoc reports and perform data audits using Bash or Python
• Maintain excellent verbal and written communication
• Provide 24/7 support of production databases

• Strong proficiency in Postgre
  
  SQL database management and optimization
• Experience managing large-scale Postgre
  
  SQL databases
• Understanding of Postgre
  
  SQL user access and authentication controls
• Experience with replication configuration in PostgreSQL
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing replication strategies
• Knowledge of Postgre
  
  SQL best practices and standards
• Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements
• Knowledge of Postgre
  
  SQL features such as pgagent or pgbouncer
• Ability to plan resource requirements from high-level specifications
• Knowledge of Postgre
  
  SQL limitations and workarounds compared to other RDBMS
• Experience administering Debian or Ubuntu Linux
• Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
• Proactive, dedicated, committed and responsible

• Experience managing MySQL or SQL Server
• Ubuntu system administration
• Experience with Redis
• Experience with Zabbix
• Experience with RabbitMQ
• Industry experience in iLottery or iGaming

• Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences with 5+ years’ experience with PostgreSQL
• Master’s degree with 3+ years’ experience
• Certified Postgre
  
  SQL DBA is a plus
