Sr. Data Governance Engineer

Summary

We are seeking a Sr. Data Governance Engineer to drive the implementation and auditing of enterprise data governance policies, focused on compliance, security, and discoverability within Microsoft Fabric. This individual will serve as the authority for operationalizing governance controls, standardizing frameworks, and ensuring the responsible use of data, especially for AI initiatives. This team member will focus on Data Governance Implementation, and Automation within our Fabric One Lake, Lakehouse, and Work spaces with regards to Policy Enforcement, and Auditing (AI Focus), Metadata, Lineage, and Stewardship.

• Architect, deploy, and audit Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and object-level security across Fabric's One Lake and Work spaces.
• Automate the enforcement and reporting of governance and compliance policies (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) using Power Shell, Python, or SQL.
• Establish metadata, data lineage, and data quality standards within Fabric to promote certified and trusted datasets.
• Serve as the SME for AI governance, collaborating with architects and security teams to embed controls early in the data lifecycle.

• Solid foundation in Data Engineering, Governance, or Platform Administration with hands-on experience architecting and implementing governance/security models in Microsoft Fabric (One Lake, Lakehouse, Work spaces, Pipelines).
• Expertise in RBAC design, data masking, and security controls for cloud data platforms.
• Proficiency in automation scripting (Power Shell, Python, or SQL) to deploy and audit governance configurations at scale.
• Practical experience with DAMA‑DMBOK principles, and translating regulatory compliance (GDPR, CCPA) into technical controls.
