Position: Azure DevOps (ADO) Practitioner / Technical Lead

We are seeking a strong Azure Dev Ops (ADO) Practitioner / Technical Lead to partner closely with the FD&E leadership team during the transition to a new centralized Azure Dev Ops instance. This is not a development role
. Instead, the individual will serve as a trusted Azure Dev Ops expert and advisor
, ensuring ADO is configured correctly to support portfolio visibility, standardized reporting, and future application‑based portfolio management.

The role involves working side‑by‑side with the project lead, answering day‑to‑day ADO questions, validating feasibility of requirements, and helping teams onboard to ADO in alignment with Azure standards and best practices—without disrupting delivery teams.

Client: Seattle‑based Client
Location: Seattle, WA (Remote allowed; must support PST time zone
)
Work Model: Remote / Local (PST hours required)
Duration: 6–12 Months (Contract)
Rate: $65–75 per hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a subject‑matter expert on Azure Dev Ops structure, standards, and best practices
  • Partner closely with the project lead to translate portfolio and reporting requirements into ADO‑ready configurations
  • Provide guidance on ADO work item hierarchy, processes, custom fields, queries, and dashboards
  • Setup and validate ADO dashboards and native reporting (Power BI not required)
  • Advise on Service Tree alignment and how ADO data should be structured to support it
  • Support TPM onboarding to Azure Dev Ops, ensuring adherence to defined standards and conventions
  • Answer frequent ADO questions with clarity, patience, and consistency
  • Act as a bridge between portfolio needs and ADO platform capabilities
  • Ensure ADO configuration supports future portfolio management through a custom application
Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong, hands‑on experience with Azure Dev Ops (ADO)
  • Deep understanding of ADO capabilities, limitations, and governance models
  • Proven experience building and maintaining ADO dashboards, queries, and views
  • Familiarity with Service Tree concepts and mapping engineering work to services
  • Knowledge of Azure / Microsoft standard definitions and best practices
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Strong collaboration skills with TPMs, portfolio leaders, and stakeholders
  • Comfortable acting in an advisor / consultative role
    , not as a developer or executor
Nice to Have
  • Prior experience working in Microsoft FD&E / FDNE environments
  • Background as a TPM, Program Manager, or ADO Administrator
  • Interest or exposure to Copilot / AI‑assisted developer tooling
  • Experience supporting large‑scale ADO rollouts or migrations
