Job Summary :
We are seeking an experienced ADA Accessibility Developer to ensure our websites, applications, and digital platforms are fully accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. This role involves developing and remediating code for ADA and WCAG compliance, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and integrating accessibility best practices into our digital products from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop, enhance, and maintain accessible front-end code using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and ARIA.
- Remediate existing websites and applications to bring them into ADA/WCAG compliance.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers to implement accessible design principles.
- Conduct and support accessibility testing using tools like Axe, Lighthouse, and screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, Voice Over).
- Interpret audit reports and remediation recommendations to implement code-level fixes.
- Work closely with QA and compliance teams to ensure accessibility is maintained across releases.
- Educate internal teams on accessibility standards and inclusive coding practices.
- Stay up to date on evolving accessibility regulations and guidelines (ADA, Section 508, WCAG 2.1/2.2).
Required Qualifications :
- Strong front-end development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Experience with modern frameworks (Ionic, React, Angular, Vue) with a focus on accessibility. React and Vue can be optional
- Experience developing accessible web applications compliant with WCAG 2.1/2.2 and ADA standards.
- Proficiency with accessibility tools:
Usable Net AQA, Axe, WAVE, Lighthouse, ANDI, etc. - Understanding of ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) roles and patterns.
- Experience with screen reader testing (JAWS, NVDA, Voice Over).
- Ability to troubleshoot and fix accessibility issues in existing codebases.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
- AWS certs as preferred
- Knowledge of Section 508, EN 301 549 (EU), and other international standards.
- Accessibility certifications (e.g., CPACC, WAS from IAAP).
- Familiarity with mobile accessibility on iOS and Android platforms.
