The OpportunityWe're seeking a dynamic Safety Manager to serve as the primary safety professional supporting P1 Service operations across the Kansas City metro, Topeka, Windsor (CO), and Ankeny (IA) markets, including branch operations and Facility Maintenance Operations (FMO). This role combines hands-on field safety leadership with program development, coaching, and compliance oversight, making it perfect for a results-driven safety professional who thrives building relationships with operational leaders and driving a proactive safety culture across multiple locations.
WhatYou'll Do
- Promote and foster a proactive safety culture throughout assigned P1 Service branches and operations
- Provide visible field leadership through routine site visits, jobsite audits, employee engagement, and coaching
- Serve as the primary coach and mentor for assigned Branch Safety Champions, supporting their selection, onboarding, and development
- Support mechanical service and Facility Maintenance Operations (FMO) within occupied hospitals, university medical centers, commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and other critical environments
- Lead and support compliance with applicable OSHA, DOT, EPA, federal, state, local, customer, and company safety requirements
- Maintain required safety documentation and support OSHA injury and illness recordkeeping in coordination with Human Resources
- Lead investigations involving employee injuries, vehicle incidents, property damage, and near misses; conduct root cause analyses and develop corrective action plans
- Partner with Human Resources, insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators (TPAs) to support workers' compensation, automobile liability, general liability, and property damage claims
- Support return-to-work and modified-duty programs, and recommend actions to reduce claim frequency, severity, and overall cost of risk
- Support implementation of the corporate Fleet Safety Program and promote safe driving behaviors across assigned operations
- Conduct or support new employee safety orientation, onboarding, and ongoing safety training
- Coordinate Learning Management System (LMS) assignments, completion, and training compliance
- Conduct routine branch, facility, and jobsite inspections; facilitate Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and risk assessments for higher-risk activities
- Prepare monthly safety reports, KPIs, scorecards, and executive summaries for leadership
- Travel frequently to assigned branches and customer locations across Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, and Iowa, with regular overnight and occasional air travel
- Field-based with regular jobsite, branch, and customer site visits across the Kansas City metro, Topeka, Windsor (CO), and Ankeny (IA) markets
