Control or operate machinery or equipment to assist with manufacturing, packaging, and other steps along a production line. May be expected to handle heavy machinery.
IFF is seeking a Blending Packaging Technician to join our team in New Century, KS! If you are a dependable and hard‑working individual who has a great attendance record, then this is the role for you!
Responsibilities- Acquire and apply job knowledge and demonstrate the skills and abilities required to effectively and efficiently operate and maintain all packaging equipment.
- Always meet customer orders and demands by operating the system according to authorized written procedures and coordinating tasks with other internal departments.
- Help promote an employee‑driven environment.
- Distinguish product names, resource numbers, lot numbers, staging and warehouse locations.
- Verify batch weights and quantities through mathematical calculations.
- Access D‑train and update files regularly.
- Acquire and demonstrate the computer skills necessary to identify production requirements and operate the packaging lines to meet those requirements.
- Possess the communication skills required to work effectively with other packaging technicians and the blender operator, and properly communicate with Production Management, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrate organizational skills and the incentive to work independently to perform job functions and successfully meet the production goals at the required quality level.
- Comply with all safety and sanitation policies or procedures. Operate the packaging lines under the good manufacturing practice guidelines that are established by the company. Communicate any food safety or personal safety hazards to Production Management immediately upon identification of the hazards.
- Identify and inspect all required packaging materials and ensure they meet the company’s standards.
- Operate the production lines with all food safety controls in place and accept responsibility for the food safety of all finished product produced during your period of operation.
- Maintain proper product weight requirements for the packaging container.
- Complete all written documentation with timely and accurate submission to the Supervisor.
- Identify non‑conforming material, remelt, residue or waste, and apply the skill to properly label and store these materials. Demonstrate the ability to consume remelt material into the proper remelt system and account for the consumption.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Comply with applicable company policies concerning maintaining a drug‑free workplace.
- Comply with all company policies.
- Perform other functions as required (non‑essential functions).
- Ensure adherence to all management systems including ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and Food Safety, with an understanding of Danisco’s Quality and Environmental Policies and procedures.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently and comply with company safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to read and verbalize information in company technical manuals and production flow charts.
- Ability to maintain a good attendance record and consistently arrive on time.
- Willing and able to wear a respirator and other personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Willing and able to lift up to 55 lbs (25 kg).
- Willing and able to work the evening shift (3:45 pm to 2:45 am), Monday‑Friday.
- Willing and able to work overtime as required.
- Production line or manufacturing experience.
- Previous food plant experience.
- Exposure to automated packaging equipment.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Forklift experience.
