Overview

Protecting People.” We are seeking a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor to partner with our experienced production team in this environmentally focused industry. A 2nd Shift Production Supervisor at Smith and Loveless is responsible for supervising and coordinating second-shift production to ensure high-quality, efficient manufacturing. Shift hours are 4:00 pm to 12:30 am.

- Direct and supervise the operations of 2nd Shift employees in paint, blast, weld, and fabrication. Delegate duties and provide follow-up and assistance for effective control.
- Ensure efficient and timely processes of the Company product to meet the production schedules.
- Ensure adherence to specifications/standards by properly directing and supervising work in progress.
- Coordinate with Engineering and other internal departments to ensure proper interpretation of plans and specifications to provide proper fabrication functions and to troubleshoot problems as they occur.
- Responsible for the proper administration of the Union Contract to ensure equitable and harmonious union management relations and handle step 1 grievances as needed.
- Ensure safe work area and adherence to safe work practices by initiating corrective preventative measures.
- Inspect all finished work to ensure they meet specifications before closing the job out.
- Develop efficient production methods and suggest new or improved equipment to lower cost and enhance product operating efficiency.
- Other duties as assigned by Plant Superintendent.
- Keep work area neat and clean.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 5 years in a supervisory capacity in a manufacturing/production operation
- Must be able to effectively supervise hourly union employees
- Ability to establish priorities, delegate duties, and read and understand blueprints
- Must have a mechanical aptitude, knowledge of Windows based PC, basic math skills including geometry and conflict resolution skills
- Foreman/Production Supervisors are expected to show up an hour before the shift to prepare. Overtime may be required as necessary.

- Required to talk and hear consistently
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry and/or drag up to twenty-five (25) pounds if necessary
- Specific vision abilities required by the role include the ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye
- Ability to ascend and descend two (2) flights of stairs and climb up/down ladders
- Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary
- Requires standing 85% of the day with frequent walking to all areas in the factory
