We are seeking a highly hands-on Manufacturing Engineer for our Shawnee, Kansas facility. This is not a "desk-only" engineering role. You will actively split your time between designing components and working directly on the shop floor. The ideal candidate brings a blend of digital design expertise, physical fabrication skills, and automation knowledge to build, test, and troubleshoot production solutions in real-time.
Key Responsibilities- Hands-On Troubleshooting:
Spend significant time on the shop floor diagnosing machinery and process issues alongside operators. - Fixture Design & Build:
Design custom manufacturing fixtures in Solid Works and assist in building or testing them. - CNC Programming:
Generate and prove out efficient tool paths and machine code using Mastercam directly on the machines. - Automation Support:
Assist with the setup, programming, and optimization of robotic production cells. - Process Improvement:
Walk the floor to analyze layouts, conduct time studies, and physically implement lean improvements. - Prototyping:
Assist in fabricating, welding, or machining prototype parts and new production equipment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Shop Floor
Experience:
Deep, practical knowledge of machining, welding, and metal fabrication. - CAD/CAM:
Expert proficiency in Solid Works and Mastercam. - Tooling:
Proven experience in custom fixture design and mechanical assembly. - Mindset: A true "get your hands dirty" attitude with a passion for physical problem-solving.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in goods manufacturing automated work environments.
- Knowledge of ACUMATICA ERP is a plus.
- Robotic Programming:
Experience programming or troubleshooting industrial robots (e.g., FANUC, Motoman, ABB) for welding, material handling, or assembly is highly desired.
