Depending on experience level, you may also support process development, CNC programming, and first article validation.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and maintain CNC lathes and CNC mills in accordance with established procedures and process instructions.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, bills of material (BOM), and bills of operations (BOO) to produce accurate parts.
  • Interpret and identify the correct bill of material for each job and ensure all required components and materials are available.
  • Adhere to all guidelines, procedures, and work instructions to ensure consistent quality and safety.
  • Perform in-process and final inspection of work pieces using gauges and other measuring equipment to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on machine tools, including cleaning, lubrication, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Use manual equipment, such as drill presses and other conventional machines, to perform necessary operations that support CNC machining.
  • Apply tooling knowledge to select, install, and maintain cutting tools, inserts, and work-holding devices.

  • Set up machine tools from process instructions, including loading programs, installing fixtures, and adjusting offsets.
  • Inspect and validate first-piece parts to confirm process accuracy before running production quantities.
  • Adjust or modify CNC programming as needed to correct dimensional issues or improve process performance, within defined parameters.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of CNC machining processes, including CNC programming, process tooling selection, work holding design, process documentation, and first article validation (for higher-level machinists).
  • Operate and demonstrate full competency on lathe, mill, and multi-axis CNC machines as experience level increases.
  • Support and understand the integration of automation with machining processes, where applicable.
  • Complete all other machining and related responsibilities as assigned by leadership to support production goals.
