The primary function of a Blaster at Smith and Loveless will be to blast and prep production items, miscellaneous parts, and products for paint. This is a very physically demanding job. Must be able to carry a heavy blaster and move materials (50-100 lbs).
SPECIFIC DUTIES:- Work with steel grit to remove rust on metal
- Run overhead cranes
- Run forklifts
EDUCATION:
None required. Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly.
EXPERIENCE:Previous forklift experience and certification preferred. Demonstrated good work attendance in previous jobs.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:Ability to read work orders. Read and understand units of measurement. Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Must be able to perform simple, repetitive tasks.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to pass drug and alcohol screening, background check and physical exam. Required to sit, stand and walk. Use hands to finger, hand or feel objects, tools or controls. Frequent stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Reach with hands and arms. Required to talk and hear consistently. Ability to lift, carry and/or drag up to 100 pounds if necessary. Must be comfortable in small spaces.
Specific vision required by the role include the ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye. Ability to wear PPE (Eyeglasses, earplugs, and steel toe shoes). Ability to ascend and descend two (2) flights of stairs. Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings.
