The Lead Printing Technician is responsible for overseeing printing operations, ensuring production efficiency, maintaining print quality standards, troubleshooting equipment issues, and leading a team of printing operators.
Key Activities- Set up, operate, and monitor printing equipment to ensure optimal performance and product quality.
- Review production schedules and prioritize jobs to meet customer deadlines.
- Verify materials, inks, plates, and specifications before production runs.
- Ensure compliance with all print quality, color, and registration standards.
- Minimize downtime through effective troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
- Lead, train, and mentor printing operators and production staff.
- Assign daily tasks and monitor employee performance.
- Promote a safe, productive, and positive work environment.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new team members.
- Provide technical guidance and support during production challenges.
- Conduct quality inspections throughout production runs.
- Monitor color consistency, print registration, and product specifications.
- Investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain production and quality records as required.
- Perform routine maintenance and equipment adjustments.
- Coordinate major repairs with maintenance personnel or vendors.
- Maintain proper inventory of inks, plates, and printing supplies.
- Ensure equipment is operated according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Leadership and team development.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and quality focus.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred.
- 3-7+ years of printing industry experience, with leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of flexographic, offset, digital, gravure, or screen printing processes.
