Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse)
Responsibilities
- Determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
- Familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or manufacturing environment.
- Follow guidance from Bio Life Medical Affairs and provide center‑level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).
- Properly manage informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, conduct medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions, follow SOPs for medical emergencies, and support the development of Center Physician’s standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
- Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats in the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities are assigned: LPN or LVN.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Meet state requirements for basic IV therapy in state of licensure.
- Successfully complete FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Hourly wage range: $24.32 – $33.44 (U.S., KS – Lenexa).
- Eligibility for short‑term incentives for U.S. based employees.
