Responsibilities- The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the department’s requirements and the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty.
- Collaborates with medical providers and other care team members to provide individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.”
- Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
- Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s).
- Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Responds promptly to patient requests and anticipates patient needs to resolve them proactively.
- Teaches patients/families/caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications and potential side effects, and follow-up measures; translates complex medical terminology for understanding.
- Educates on non-medicinal follow-up measures such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes; prepares patients and families for future self-management.
- NIGHT-SHIFT; 3 x 12-hour shifts; works within a tight-knit team under engaging and supportive leadership.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN required).
- Current license as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
- AHA BLS required;
Current AHA ACLS to be obtained within 90 days of hire; NIH Stroke training to be completed within 90 days of hire; TNCC REQUIRED within 6 months of hire; ENPC REQUIRED within 6 months of hire. PALS is preferred. - 1 year of nursing experience preferred.
OPRMC is a 340+ bed facility offering acute medical services. We are Johnson County’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Level II Trauma Center, with an Accredited Stroke and Chest Pain Center. Our hospital offers Women’s & Children’s healthcare services and the region’s only Maternal Fetal Health Center. We have a Level III NICU and multiple ERs, including a dedicated Pediatric ER and two freestanding ERs in Olathe and Shawnee.
We treat over 45,000 patients annually and are part of HCA Midwest Health.
