Job DescriptionFollows CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs hand hygiene according to policy, and enforces safety regulations. Exemplifies Advent Health’s core values of Keep Me Safe, Make It Easy, Love Me, and Own It through behavior. Other duties as assigned. Assists in the delivery of patient care by performing tasks under the direction of a registered nurse. Documents and reports all procedures accurately according to department policy.
Participates in obtaining nursing history and evaluates age‑appropriate behavior, motor skills, and physiological norms, reporting abnormalities to the registered nurse. Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture, and functions appropriately in clinical emergencies. Participates in practice changes from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives. Evaluates patients’ developmental level, identifies increased physical/emotional dependency needs, and assesses the availability of support systems.
Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills.
- Demonstrate ability and understanding of the age‑specific care requirements of geriatric, adult, adolescent, and pediatric patient populations.
- Close attention and mental effort in executing multiple assigned duties, such as recording blood pressures, inputs and outputs, obtaining and documenting blood glucose monitor results, and distributing and collecting dietary trays.
- Ability to float between assignments and adapt to varying healthcare settings.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance with all safety and infection control policies.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to document information accurately.
- Remain calm and focused in stressful and/or emotionally charged situations.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Demonstrated customer service skills with a patient‑centric approach.
- Basic hands‑on computer knowledge and data entry proficiency.
- Ability to move or lift patients and equipment; willingness to work a flexible workweek including weekends, nights, and overtime.
- Commitment to purposeful hourly rounding and efficient interaction with a wide variety of individuals.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform accuchecks, hemoccults, obtain vital signs correctly, and familiarity with normal vital sign parameters for age‑specific populations.
- Ability to remove peripheral IV catheters, empty Foley bags, JP’s, and hemovacs.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills and ability to articulate complex information to all staff levels.
- Effective computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Suite; ability to work in a matrix‑management environment.
- Judgment to seek supervisory input when needed and efficient time management.
- Interface with employees, physicians, patients, and external contacts.
- Experience working in a modern well‑equipped environment with exposure to blood borne pathogens and ability to handle aggressive patients.
- Physical capability to work weekends, irregular hours, holidays, extended hours, standing/walking, lifting supplies/equipment, and use of personal protective equipment.
- Meet physical requirements per hospital standard and accurate typing skills.
- Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
- High School Graduate or equivalent (Required)
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program and have completed the first semester of Nursing Fundamentals OR have completed an accredited nursing program within one year and not yet obtained a license for RN or LPN.
- 1+ years of experience as a nursing assistant (Preferred)
- Basic Life Support – CPR Certified (BLS) (Required)

Pay Range$16.26 – $26.02
