Position Overview – As a Quality Engineer, you will report directly to the Quality Manager and administer the Project Quality Plan. The role ensures the quality program is successfully implemented throughout the project lifecycle, coordinating activities across engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and operations for the US Navy Spent Fuel Handling Project.
LocationThis position may be based in Lenexa, KS;
Aiken, SC;
Oak Ridge, TN; or Houston, TX.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of company standards and guidelines.
- Communicate client critique results to employees.
- Initiate, implement, and close Corrective Action Reports.
- Facilitate Root/Apparent Cause Analysis.
- Plan and perform quality assessments.
- Maintain knowledge of District Quality Manuals and project requirements.
- Identify potential quality incidents before they arise.
- Participate in all project activities, providing input related to quality assurance.
- Plan and participate in internal quality audits and surveillance; conduct reviews of required documents and support materials, interview staff, and administer online audit questions.
- Provide administrative support for audits, other Quality Department programs, and monthly operations reviews.
- Facilitate quality presentations and disseminate quality information at discipline meetings.
- Mentor project staff and promote a culture of quality.
- Draft and maintain project quality documents, including required quality activities and metrics; collect and analyze quality data to enable proactive solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 2‑5+ years of quality or related experience (including at least 1 year in a nuclear environment).
- Knowledge of commercial grade dedication for materials, equipment, and services.
- Preferred knowledge of NQA‑1, ISO‑9001, Six Sigma, and/or US NRC Regulatory Guides.
- Proficiency in problem‑solving and causal analysis techniques.
- Preferential experience with quality control procedures for construction activities.
- Ability to access all points of a construction site in varied climates and environments.
- Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and initiative.
