About The Role

Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)

We're looking for PhD-level Biochemists to help evaluate and improve the world's most advanced AI models. Your scientific expertise will directly shape how AI reasons through complex topics like protein folding, metabolic flux, enzyme kinetics, and molecular genetics — making a real impact on the future of AI in life sciences.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No prior AI experience is required — just deep biochemistry knowledge and a sharp analytical mind.

  • Organization:
    Alignerr
  • Type:
    Hourly Contract
  • Location:

    Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
  • Design Challenging Problems — Create advanced biochemistry problems across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to rigorously test AI performance
  • Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for high-level scientific reasoning in AI systems
  • Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy and adherence to scientific standards
  • Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereo chemistry, or misapplied enzyme kinetics — and provide structured feedback to improve how AI models think through life science problems
  • Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule
Who You Are
  • Advanced Degree:
PhD completed or in final stages in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field
  • Domain Expertise:
Strong foundational knowledge in one or more areas — structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or molecular genetics
  • Clear Communicator:
Able to translate highly technical biological and chemical concepts into precise, well-structured written explanations
  • Detail-Oriented:
High level of precision when reviewing complex chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols
  • No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
  • Experience with data annotation, data quality review, or evaluation systems
  • Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, Alpha Fold, or BLAST
  • Background in scientific writing, peer review, or academic publishing
Why Join Us
  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading AI research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule, from anywhere
  • Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and global collaboration
  • Gain rare exposure to how advanced large language models are trained and evaluated
  • Contribute to meaningful work that improves AI for the scientific community
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
