Overview
The Farmers Market Attendant supports the operation of the City’s Farmers’ Market by assisting vendors and patrons and supporting daily market operations.
Schedule:
This position averages 8–16 hours per week and is typically scheduled 1–2 days per week during the regular market season from April through October.
On Farmers Market days, staff hours are typically:
- Saturdays, 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- Tuesdays, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
From November through March, work is limited to once-a-month market days. Hours primarily include weekends and may include holidays and special market events.
Position SummaryUnder the general guidance of the Farmers Market Coordinator or Recreation staff, the Farmers Market Attendant assists with on-site operations of the Farmers’ Market, including setup and teardown, vendor and patron support, enforcement of market guidelines, and compliance with applicable regulations.
Responsibilities- Assist with market setup, operations, and shutdown, including vendor support, booth layout, and placement of barricades, cones, and signage
- Operate and reconcile the low-cost debit and SNAP transaction program
- Provide customer service by answering questions and assisting with concerns
- Enforce market rules, policies, and layout requirements
- Maintain the Market Information Booth
- Perform light custodial duties, including trash collection and general cleanup
- Complete required reports and end-of-day documentation
- Assist with special events and additional market-related needs as assigned
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- One year of experience in a customer service or fast-paced work environment
- Satisfactory credit history
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally while enforcing rules and policies
The rate of pay is $15.50 per hour.
Physical and Environmental FactorsPhysical and Environmental Factors:
Work is performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions. This position requires prolonged standing and walking, occasional lifting of up to 20–30 pounds, and assisting with market setup and teardown. Duties may involve exposure to noise and typical outdoor and event-related hazards.
Offers of employment are contingent upon successfully passing a drug screen. A background check is required for applicants aged 18 and older.
