Counter Sales

Position Purpose

The Counter Sales role is a key customer touchpoint for accurate order entry and smooth customer interactions. It requires strong multitasking skills, including processing orders, maintaining inventory accuracy, and coordinating logistics to support delivery timelines. Through professionalism, honesty, and respect, the role helps deliver an exceptional customer experience and reinforces the Heritage Family of Companies’ reputation.

• Provide exceptional customer service via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
• Accurately process transactions at the sales counter using the company’s computer system.
• Offer expert product recommendations and pricing information to maximize sales.
• Create detailed sales orders and quotes using customer measurements.
• Coordinate and schedule truck deliveries to ensure logistics and customer satisfaction.
• Participate in cycle counts, order picking, staging, replenishment, and shipping/receiving activities.
• Collaborate with management and team members on customer needs and special order requests.
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment and adhere to safety standards.
• Communicate effectively with management and colleagues to support organizational goals.

• 2+ years of customer service or sales experience, preferably in a retail environment.
• Basic computer operations and internet navigation proficiency.
• Experience with point-of-sale systems and order entry procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem‑solving and resourcefulness in handling customer inquiries.
• Ability to lift up to 75lbs (regularly) and 50lbs repeatedly.
• Willingness to work overtime during peak season.
• Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug test.
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred: Associate Degree in Business Administration).

• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
• Experience with irrigation or landscaping products.
• Forklift operator certification and experience operating forklifts.
• Strong knowledge of landscaping materials, tools, and trends.
• Proficiency with retail point‑of‑sale systems and common software.
• Current forklift and CPR/First Aid certifications are desirable.

On‑site position at the sales counter. Requires extended standing, walking, frequent hand use for computer and order‑processing tasks, and lifting up to 75lbs. No travel required.

Full‑time Monday‑Friday with overtime during peak seasons. Fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment involving both office and warehouse tasks.
