About Westlake Ace Hardware – a division of Ace Hardware Corporation that operates the Westlake Ace Hardware chain, headquartered in Lenexa, Kansas, and operating over 150 neighborhood stores throughout the United States.
Responsibilities- Project a positive representation of Westlake Ace Hardware, greet customers entering and throughout the store, thank them by name whenever possible and maintain a friendly, outgoing demeanor.
- Ensure excellent customer service from associates and supervise staff to uphold this standard.
- Answer calls and pages promptly, courteously, and effectively, communicating any problems or issues that require management assistance.
- Perform cashier duties to provide fast, accurate, and professional checkouts, including balancing the register drawer and executing all cash register transaction procedures.
- Assist with register and computer problems, downloads, upgrades, and fixes as needed.
- In the absence of the Assistant Manager–Operations, verify cashier-balancing, deposit procedures, and policies; prepare deposit, long/short recap, cashier over‑short acknowledgements, and sales audits; verify weekend vault counts and conduct random vault checks.
- Provide assistance with office duties such as receiving, invoices, purchase orders, inventory adjustments, and the quarterly audit checklist.
- Observe cashiers for proper phone etiquette, greeting customers, handling returns correctly, and attentive customer treatment as part of the audit procedure.
- Maintain front‑end appearance: keep the front end neat and clean, face and dust counters, stock impulse counters and fresh merchandise, stock ads in carts, and maintain forms and supplies.
- Assist with decorating the front end according to the Store Support Center program and call for cart pickups when necessary.
- Communicate merchandising, cost‑control, or sales ideas to the General Manager and participate in store and cashier meetings.
- Assist with training and development of new cashiers and work with the Assistant Manager–Operations to prepare for advancement opportunities.
- High School or GED equivalent.
- Experience in retail and/or office management preferred.
- Cashier experience preferred.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 25 lbs), and climb as required.
Compensation: $14.00 – $16.00 hourly.
