Role Overview
Busines Development Manager (BDM) FMS – Lenexa, KS
The incumbent is responsible for developing new customer business within their assigned sales territory, educating prospects on Ryder’s services, and executing the Ryder Sales Process to achieve and exceed quota revenues.
Responsibilities- Develop pre‑sales strategy for target accounts and build a sales activity pipeline.
- Respond proactively to leads furnished by the organization.
- Represent the full spectrum of Ryder services to new and potential customers.
- Collaborate with ARs, CDMs, DSDs, and National Sales to transition accounts and increase sales opportunities.
- Ensure proper new‑customer orientation and account transition activities.
- Identify prospect needs, conduct quality needs assessment, and prepare value‑based proposals.
- Create and maintain professional relationships with all levels of the organization.
- Report sales activity, sales protocol compliance, and SOM compliance to management.
- Leverage internal resources (MDS, Safety, Finance, etc.) to expand opportunities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or an equivalent field.
- Five or more years of consecutive sales experience with demonstrated quota achievement.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High degree of initiative, self‑motivation, and flexibility to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent time‑management and organizational skills.
- Highly detail oriented with strong follow‑up practices.
- Advanced ability to interpret financial data.
- Understanding of Ryder’s product offerings and ability to represent the full spectrum of services.
Base Salary: $68,000 per year. Lucrative uncapped commission structure with an average commission of $40,000‑$50,000 in Year1 and $50,000‑$60,000+ in Year
