Area Business Specialist (ABS) – Xeris Pharmaceuticals
Responsible for achieving commercial objectives in the assigned territory, aligning with Xeris corporate goals, and partnering with healthcare providers to identify and treat underserved rare disease patients.
Responsibilities- Achieve territory product sales and activity goals by meeting company‑defined performance expectations, metrics, and customer engagement objectives.
- Develop and execute a territory business plan using internal data, analytics, customer insights, and cross‑functional resources to identify high‑potential HCP and account opportunities.
- Build rapport and credibility with HCPs, creating urgency around the identification, diagnosis, and treatment of underserved rare disease patients.
- Apply an account‑based selling approach, engaging physicians, nurses, medical assistants, office staff, referral coordinators, and prior authorization personnel to identify patients and drive pull‑through from diagnosis to treatment initiation.
- Utilize company resources—field analytics, account data, marketing campaigns, speaker programs, peer‑to‑peer education, disease‑state materials, patient‑finding resources—to develop account strategies and improve engagement.
- Collaborate with PAMs, regional business directors, and peers to share best practices and implement strategic initiatives.
- Contribute market intelligence and customer insights to support organizational growth and strategic decision‑making.
- Partner with marketing, training, market access, and commercial operations to maximize use of resources and drive customer engagement.
- Represent Xeris professionally and ethically, maintaining compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and healthcare laws.
- Continuously seek opportunities for personal development, embrace coaching, and contribute to a positive, high‑performing culture.
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of successful life‑sciences sales experience; 2+ years in rare disease product promotion preferred.
- Proven record of sustained high sales performance and achievement.
- Strong knowledge of sales processes; familiarity with rare disease products, markets, and patient journey processes preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
- Valid U.S. state‑issued driver’s license.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment with frequent travel.
- Strong leadership, teamwork, collaboration, and accountability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical thinking, problem‑solving, and decision‑making.
- Organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
- Self‑starter mindset and ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment.
- Internal candidates promoted from Retail Inside Sales Representative to Rare Inside Sales Representative may be eligible.
- Current Territory Business Managers may also apply based on performance, product expertise, and readiness for field responsibilities.
- Field‑based role requiring periodic evening and weekend work.
- Periodic overnight travel; travel by air and vehicle as required.
- Outside the designated geographic area may entail extensive overnight travel.
Anticipated base salary range: $110,000 – $190,000. Eligible for quarterly commission (field sales) or annual bonus (non‑sales). Employees may receive equity or long‑term incentive awards where applicable. A comprehensive benefits package includes paid time off, health, vision, dental, and 401(k) retirement benefits.
