P1 Construction is seeking Local Union 8 Plumber Pre-Apprentices for the Kansas City KS/MO Metro area. Join our P1 Team! P1 Construction has grown into a national construction and solutions provider. The Local Union Plumbers 8 Apprenticeship Program is a five-year training program. Individuals accepted into this program will receive classroom training through the Local Plumbers Training Center and on-the-job training with an employer. Trainees are paid a percentage of the plumber wage rate with step increases until graduation. Upon graduation, trainees receive 100% of the wage rate as determined by the collective bargaining agreement.

A plumber installs and maintains potable water, sewage, and drainage systems. Responsibilities include reading drawings and specifications, diagnosing faults, installing and maintaining plumbing fixtures, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
- Read drawings and specifications to determine layout
- Detect faults and diagnose causes
- Install, repair, and maintain domestic, commercial, and industrial systems
- Locate pipe connections and fittings; measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes
- Join pipes using soldering, compression, threaded, or push-on fittings
- Test pipes for leaks and install plumbing assemblies and fixtures
- Follow safety standards and building regulations
- Must have completed a community college/vocational certification program or an Associate’s degree related to HVAC/welding/plumbing trades, or at least 1 year of full-time construction hands-on trade experience
- Proficient in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals)

- Must be able to work full-time and attend night classes 2 days per week
- At least 18 years old; high school diploma or GED
- Able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
- Documentation required: detailed resume with education, training, and work history; 2026/2027 Letter of Eligibility from the Local Plumbers Training Center
- Ability to perform manual work in all weather conditions
- Ability to work in cramped positions; good hand-eye coordination and balance
- Good physical fitness and agility; lifting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling
- Repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and fingers; grasping and feeling
- Good vision and hearing; ability to perceive distances and colors
- Visual acuity for near and far work under varying lighting conditions
