What you will do
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning and general servicing of systems, including detailed troubleshooting.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on‑site customer interface.
  • Mentor control technicians, service technicians, and mechanical technicians on building automation activities.
  • Properly complete required project and service documentation.
  • Provide the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, providing solutions and outcomes at the time of service.
  • Diagnose and repair complex control system malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge of electronic or digital controls systems and ability to test and write modifications in multiple languages of systems software.
  • Consult with the customer through data gathered and site assessments.
  • Provide field proposals for retrofits, upgrades, and/or enhancements to existing equipment.
  • Assist sales by providing technical recommendations for sales leads.
  • Manage assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution of time and customer satisfaction.
  • Report problems or changes to management immediately.
  • Interface with branch manager, service manager, service project manager or subcontractors to coordinate activities.
  • Provide sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings.
  • Assist with job layouts and bid proposals, and install and modify software and graphics.
  • Communicate with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Meet regularly with customers to become familiar with operating problems and keep customers informed on service provided, outstanding issues, recommend system enhancements, upgrades, and replacement.
  • Promote the sale of add‑on work.
  • Adhere to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards, provide safety leadership and instruction to all control’s technicians in the branch, provide safety awareness while working onsite with subcontractors.
  • Train the customer in control systems operations, deliver manuals and documentation for training needs.
  • Provide mentorship for certification of Controls Technicians and Service Technicians on complex building automation systems.
  • Coach, support and train the technical workforce on non‑complex, non‑critical equipment.
  • Compile job documentation such as certificate of completion, customer training form, training certificates and punch lists.
  • Conduct extensive self‑study to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company’s product lines.
  • Complete certifications as required by the company.
  • Assist in the design and configuration of building control systems as defined by the contract documents.
  • Assist in developing and testing software programs necessary to operate the system per the project requirements’ intent.
  • Assist in coordinating and creating necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
  • Select, order, and track the delivery of materials for assigned work.
  • Assist in the loading and commissioning of all system and network‑level controllers as required.
  • Assist in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
  • Provide field change information to the project team for creation of as‑built drawings and software.
  • Keep management and contractor informed of job progress and issues.
  • Assist in performing site‑specific training for owner/operator on the total building control system.
  • Participate in release meeting with project field team.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently, including upselling opportunities, and provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
