The City of Lenexa’s Parks and Recreation Department is seeking an enthusiastic Recreation Program Instructor – Youth Sports to lead fun, high-quality youth sports programs at Lenexa’s Old Town Activity Center and provide field supervision for leagues.
Position SummaryThe Recreation Program Instructor prepares and instructs youth sports programs, ensuring a positive, safe, and engaging experience for all participants. This role also provides field supervision for leagues and represents the City in a friendly and professional manner.
ScheduleThis position works up to 10 hours per week, primarily on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings. Occasional Saturday morning shifts are required during the spring and fall soccer seasons.
Key Responsibilities- Create and plan course curriculum, developing materials and programs that can be used and adapted by the City.
- Instruct and deliver classes to participants in a positive and engaging manner.
- Provide field supervision for leagues, ensuring safe and well-organized activities.
- Drive City vehicles as needed.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of instruction and customer service experience.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Valid driver’s license.
The starting rate of pay is $16.50 per hour.
Physical and Environmental Factors:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. This position requires the ability to lift and move supplies and materials related to recreation programs, activities, and events. Visual acuity is needed to review information. Long hours of standing with limited breaks may occur during special events.
